Raphaël GAWAYA GALUME holds a degree in anthropology from the University of Kinshasa and is a researcher at the Institute of National Museums of the Congo, Kinshasa, within the archaeology section. He has worked as a provenance researcher as part of the PROCHE project (PROvenance Research on the Ethnographic Collection), a scientific collaboration with the AfricaMuseum in Tervuren, Belgium. His research focuses particularly on the provenance, circulation, and modes of acquisition of cultural objects, especially Woyo masks and Yombe maternity figurines.
