Maria Caley

Biographie

Maria CALEY is a lecturer at the University of Namibia and a PhD candidate in History at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. She is also a fashion and textile designer, interested in African traditional clothing and textiles, and their transformations and influence globally. Her PhD research, Co-creating Kavango Belonging(s): Responding to Namibian Collections and Archives through Fashion Activism, explores the repatriation of Namibian cultural belongings from Germany, and the reconnections of repatriated ‘artifacts’ to communities that created them.
