Compagnie Zora Snake
Zora Snake, whose real name is TEJEUTSA Zobel Raoul, is a choreographer, dancer, and performer from western Cameroon. Coming from urban dance (hip-hop), he is the founder of Compagnie Zora Snake and of the international biennial festival Modaperf (Cameroon). A self-taught artist, he trained in the streets of Douala and Yaoundé. His journey through public spaces and contemporary stages in Africa and Europe draws from the roots of ancestral heritage. He has received various awards and has been invited to prestigious creative residencies, artistic projects, and international festivals—both individually and in collaboration with artists and institutions—across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. He is the author of several artistic creations (performances and choreographic works). His most recent works explore collections of artworks from the colonial period, contemporary museum perspectives, and restitution: “The Aftermath of Colonization,” “The Masks Fall,” and “The Villager’s Opera.” Zora Snake is currently on tour with his team for his new choreographic creation “Battle of the Lianas.” He is also developing a new space in Cameroon, “La Falaise des artistes Tejeuts’art.”
