Sophie Chave-Dartoen is a professor and researcher in the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Bordeaux, a member of UMR 5318 Passages, and director of the University of Bordeaux’s Museum of Ethnography. Holding a research degree from the École du Louvre and a PhD in ethnology (EHESS), she conducts fieldwork in Polynesia on the relationships between social organization, ritual systems, cognitive phenomena, and local theories of action. She also leads the ANADA research program on the decolonization of the arts, the circulation of cultural property, and the restitution of African heritage.
