Stefan Eisenhofer

Biographie

Stefan Eisenhofer, PhD, is an ethnologist and historian. He has been Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department (since 2001) at the Museum Fünf Kontinente in Munich..

Since 1994, he has been the lead and co-curator of more than 30 exhibitions and the author of numerous publications, primarily on African art and history.

His research focuses on the art of the pre-colonial empires of West Africa, contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, the history of the reception of African art in the Global North, and museum and exhibition practices.
