Biographie

Richard Tsogang Fossi holds a PhD. in intercultural German studies with a focus on literature, colonial history and memory. His research in recent years has focused on the provenance of Cameroonian cultural heritage from the colonial context in Europe, on colonial street names in Germany and remnants of colonial architecture in Cameroon. He has been involved in several transnational research projects on colonial history and memory in Cameroon and Germany (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf/University of Dschang), on textbooks as media of colonial memory (at GEI Braunschweig) and was a member of the curatorial team for the exhibition “Hey Hamburg, kennst Du Duala Manga Bell/Hey Hamburg, do you know Duala Manga Bell?” at MARKK-Museum Hamburg. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Berlin and a member of the transnational research project team “Reverse History of Collections. Mapping Cameroonian art and culture in German museums”, funded by the DFG and coordinated by Professors Albert Gouaffo from the University of Dschang and Bénédicte Savoy from the Technical University of Berlin. He is co-author of the book Atlas der Abwesenheit. Kameruns Kulturerbe in Deutschland, 2023 [Atlas de l’absence. Le patrimoine culturel du Cameroun en Allemagne. Heidelberg : Reimer, 2023/24].
