Biographie

After studying art history and gaining 15 years’ experience in the conservation and restoration of cultural property, Emmanuelle Cadet turned her attention to cultural project management. Since 2010, she has developed and directed the Alter Natives association, which questions and experiments with the social uses of cultural heritage. Her international experience working with young people in France and Senegal has led her to develop appropriate governance models and teaching methods. Since its creation, she has coordinated the ‘Zone de contact / Objets d’ailleurs’ programme, which focuses the association’s inclusive actions on the history of the acquisition of cultural property from various continents present in European museums and prepares the historical content. As part of a doctorate in contemporary history (University of Paris 8), she is currently engaged in participatory research on the history of the translocation of cultural property during the period of colonial military expansion in Senegal (1850-1895).
