Biographie
Emmanuelle Sibeud is a professor of contemporary history at Paris 8 University and a researcher at IDHES (UMR 8533). Her research focuses on the production of colonial knowledge, humanitarian networks in Africa in the first half of the 20th century, and the logic of racialization in the French colonial empire. Her publications include: The Black Populations of France. Histories from Metropole to Colonies, co-edited with Sylvain Pattieu and Tyler Stovall (Nebraska University Press, 2021), the dossier “Des statues pour mémoire ? Colonialisme et espace public en France” (Statues for Remembrance? Colonialism and Public Space in France), Mémoires en jeu (2024), and the website https://castinstone.exeter.ac.uk/fr/page-daccueil/.
