Biographie

As an archaeologist and director general of the Musée national du Mali, Daouda Keita places the protection of cultural heritage at the heart of his work. Through awareness-raising and the pioneering “cultural banks” project, he offers rural communities concrete alternatives to looting and makes culture a driver of development and poverty reduction. He is also a university lecturer and author, committed to opening the national museum to new dialogues and to giving Malian culture greater visibility. He is at the centre of debates on the restitution of African cultural property and also works on the provenance of Malian objects held in European museums.
