Louis Fagbohoun is a lecturer-researcher, an organic chemist specializing in natural substances at the École Normale Supérieure in Natitingou, part of the Université Nationale des Sciences, Technologies, Ingénierie et Mathématiques (UNSTIM) in Benin. He completed his doctoral research within the “Ingénierie de la Restauration des Patrimoines Naturel et Culturel” (IRPNC) team at the University of Avignon, focusing in particular on the “Chemical study of natural dyes and traditional resinous materials from Benin in the field of craftsmanship.” His research focuses on the study of materials used in cultural heritage objects, particularly the characterization of natural substances for applications in dyeing and pharmacology, as well as their valorization. A field-oriented researcher, he works on issues related to the knowledge and skills of traditional artisans in the Yoruba cultural area and serves as a reference for students and professionals in the fields of arts and museum work. He is a member of the “Réseau d’Échanges entre acteurs du Patrimoine Européens et Africains” (REAPEA). He also draws on his experience to establish, in collaboration with local and international partners, a research team dedicated to artistic and culturo-bioactive substances, with the aim of contributing to the visibility and preservation of ancestral knowledge and traditional know-how.
